On April 27, 2026, the third meeting of the “Sztuką przez Intymność” workshop series took place, with control, trust and the ability to let go as its central theme. The meeting created space to reflect on which areas of life we try to control, where this need comes from and what emotions arise when we try to give up full control, even for a moment.
The psychological part took the form of a workshop and was based above all on conversation and the participants sharing their experiences. Together we considered what the need for control is and what function it serves in our everyday lives. We talked about how it often gives a sense of security and predictability, but can also come with tension, fatigue and difficulty accepting what we cannot influence. Participants had the opportunity to look at their own experiences of letting go, trust and accepting uncertainty, and to share strategies that help them regain balance in situations that call for flexibility.
In the artistic part, participants made their own wall hangings on small looms. The weaving process itself – requiring patience, mindfulness and repetitive movements – became a symbolic reflection of the meeting’s theme. Interlacing thread after thread made it possible to experience the balance between planning and spontaneity, between control and accepting whatever emerges in the creative process. The finished pieces were not only the result of artistic work but also a personal record of the reflections that accompanied the participants during the workshop.
So that they could continue their creative work after the meeting, each participant received her own 3D-printed loom and a set of yarns, allowing her to continue the work at home at her own pace.
We thank all the participants for their presence, openness and willingness to share their experiences. Each meeting shows how valuable it is to create a space where you can safely pause over important topics, look at them from a new perspective and also express them through creative activities.
The “Sztuką przez Intymność” project is co-funded by the European Union through a grant awarded by the Batory Foundation.
